During the Greater Edmonton Teachers’ Convention, chairpersons provide an important and essential role by hosting our speakers. Volunteering to be a chairperson has many rewards:

1. You have the opportunity to personally meet the speaker.
2. You have the pleasure of having lunch with the speaker at the scenic River Room at the Shaw Conference Centre.
3. You will receive a Tim Horton’s gift certificate to thank you for your assistance.
4. As a chairperson you are guaranteed the best seat in the session you want to attend.
5. You are welcomed to attend the Hospitality Suite at the Westin Hotel

Your duties are simple and easy:

1. E-mailing /phoning the speaker prior to convention to introduce yourself.
2. Hosting the speaker prior to the session.
3. During the session, introducing and thanking the speaker as well as distributing evaluation forms.
4. Assisting the speaker to pick up their honorarium from the convention information desk
5. Demonstrating Edmonton’s famous hospitality

There will be a brief Chairpersons’ Evening to provide all the information you need to be a host/chair. You will receive an email as to the date and location. We look forward to seeing you at the Chairperson’s Evening.
